CrossFit can be a great base for kids to build confidence, strength, functional movement, develop them as healthy and fit individuals. And if desired carry them into other sports. It’s like Ninja Warrior training for kids.
CrossFit is great for kids because of the wide variety of disciplines it involves, from weightlifting to calisthenics to gymnastics. Kids brains are like little sponges, itching to make neurological connections and adaptations. These connections in the brain are made in response to stimuli. The more kids can be exposed to when they are young, the more connections and capacities they develop and retain for the rest of their lives.
CrossFit is similar to sports and martial arts in how it can develop children on an emotional level. Crossfit can help kids develop sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, listening skills, self-discipline and manners. As children become fitter and more physically active they have an increase in confidence and self-esteem.
Fitness as a Lifestyle
It is important to instill fitness as a lifestyle at an early age. Fitness programs should emphasize the FUN aspect of fitness so kids see fitness as something as enjoyable and beneficial. Eating healthy becomes a natural and normal choice and being active becomes something they just do. An all-encompassing program like CrossFit is a great way for children to excel in in many areas of their lives as children and into adulthood.
CrossFit also comes with a reputation of being an intense workout, and many gyms are now offering programs for children.
So is it safe?
Yes it is. Children’s workouts focus on different things than adult workouts. There is a focus on fun, circuits, functional movements and working with light weights (if weight is used at). The goal of our program is to make exercise enjoyable for kids so that they form good health habits that they will carry with them the rest of their lives.
A Typical Class
A typical class starts with a fun warm up including calisthenics and stretching, followed by having fun working on movements that help them to improve strength, balance and coordination. Then we move on to working on different obstacle course elements that may include rope climbs, gymnastic rings, working on handstands, floating steps, warp walls and much more.
The CrossFit Bowmanville kids program is for children ages 5yrs – 8 yrs old.

TRAIN LIKE A NINJA WARRIOR BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Make your child’s birthday special. Our Train Like a Ninja Warrior birthday party is that something different you have been looking for!
Our parties keep the kids moving and having fun for the 2 hours that they are here.
The great thing about our parties is that we only host one party at a time. This means that the facility is yours for the full 2 hours. No crowds to deal with. No parking issues. No waiting for the obstacles or service.
Your child with get to run the warp walls, climb and swing from ropes, navigate the gymnastic rings, traverse the monkey bars and so much more… Each party is 2 hours in length and has a dedicated coach. The first hour is spent on the course. Then there is a short break for you to do food and cake. After the short break the kids are back on the course for the remainder of the time.
You simply bring your food and cake and we do the rest. The tables, cloths, chairs and cutlery are all provided. Parties are suitable for ages 5 and up.
We are conveniently located just off the 401 in Bowmanville.
